Grub: Prague
Prague's Finest Drunk Eats
It’s 3 AM, you’re starving. Say no more. Prague is home to one of the absolute best drunk food establishments on planet Earth—open all night, cheap, and oh so satisfying. Let’s keep it real, you didn’t come halfway across the world to hit up McDonalds, Burger King, and KFC at night… You want something you can only get here. This shameless plug comes without any financial incentive, and honestly we should be getting a cut for this kind of recommendation.
Actually, we’ve got two solid recommendations for disgustingly stuffing your face. It’s just that one of them is really a head above the rest. So here we go. Bring on the drunk eats:
Burrito Loco
No matter where you are in Prague, there’s a Burrito Loco nearby. The city has 10 locations, and for good reason. This is hands down the best drunk food you’re going to find. Mention this place to any kid who ever studied in the city and you’ve got an instant connection. If you know, you know.
Burrito Loco is your one stop shop. They’ve got burritos, tacos, quesadillas, salad, burgers, chili, even a vegan menu. Have fun picking out a favorite salsa. It’s like some genius realized a bunch of American kids would be wandering around looking for food at the crack of dawn. And if you aren’t sauced enough, they’ve got margaritas too.
Not sold? Take a look at the website to get on top of their loyalty program. Thats right, down enough drunk food and they’ll give you some more for FREE. So waste no time. Head straight to Burrito Loco after your first night out.
Václavská klobása
Fine, I get it… Not everyone loves Mexican. Maybe you just want to change it up. How about some burgers, hot dogs, and fries?
Take the Metro to Můstek, walk about a block, and you’re there. Like most things, you won’t go broke eating here and it’s open 24/7.
Cop Outs and Backup Plans
Worst comes to worst, there are still plenty of satisfying options in the city. Yes, there are your typical American fast food establishments (which can be a novelty for their European menus), but you can also branch out. There are hot dog stands all over the place, and what they might lack in cleanliness they’ll make up to you with the prices. Besides, if you’re that worried about your health, why’d you go get hammered?
Up for dessert? You can find ice cream and gelato on every block in the touristy areas. Need a pastry? Try a trdelník (tr-del-neek — roll the r, or affectionately call it a turtleneck like your many exchange student peers). It’s a spiral cake served on a stick, and is most commonly covered with cinnamon sugar. Some places will really get creative with these. Don’t miss out on ice cream served in a trdelník cone.
Even if you’re not the “going out” type, you’ll probably be up for a late night snack at some point. Make sure you take advantage of the best that Prague has to offer.
